Granit Xhaka’s speech before Arsenal’s 2-0 derby win over Tottenham has gone viral, with the Swiss captain’s leadership skills highlighted.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man was left without the Gunners captain’s armband in 2019 after he responded angrily to the fans in the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
Under Mikel Artetas, he has been completely reborn and his relationship with Arsenal fans is the strongest it has ever been.
While he previously let the team down by being sent off, he has been incredibly disciplined of late and has grown into a key player in Arsenal’s title run.
And on Sunday, footage of Xhaka motivating his team-mates ahead of a tough clash with rivals Spurs was loved by Gunners fans.
The team were stretching on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium and the clip, filmed by TV presenter Alison Bender and with millions of views on social media, shows Xhaka reminding his team-mates of the standards they must meet.
You can’t hear exactly what instructions Xhaka is giving, but he is extremely intense, using his hands to best display his movements and instructions.
Look at him, just fucking look at Granit Xhaka🔥 pic.twitter.com/RyJjE6mDqv
