Arsenal are set to renew their efforts to sign Ferran Torres in January, according to Todo Fichajes.
The Gunners made a €30 million summer deadline day bid for Ferran which was rejected by Barcelona.
However, Arsenal are set to return with an improved bid when the window reopens in the new year.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add more depth to his squad and his primary target is an outside attacker.
The first target in the last weeks of the summer window was Pedro Neto of Wolves but Fichajes says that Torres has now moved ahead in the queue.
Torres only joined Barcelona in January in a €65m transfer from Man City.
However, he has struggled at Camp Nou and has scored only four goals in La Liga.
Since the summer arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, he has now lost his first-team place in the starting XI.
The favoured trident for Xavi is Ousmane Dembele-Lewandowski-Raphinha. There are also other top-class attackers in the squad such as Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay, so competition is very strong.
Xavi would rather keep Ferran but at the same time Barcelona need to cut costs and reduce their wage bill. If a suitable bid from Arsenal arrived for Ferran, they would consider selling him.
Barcelona and Arsenal big spending
Barca were one of the highest spenders in Europe in the summer transfer window, spending heavily on the likes of Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, as well as free transfers Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso.
Arsenal were big spenders themselves, signings stars such as Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Marquinhos and Matt Turner.
They are set to continue in January as they make a challenge for the Premier League title. The London team are top of the table after the first six matchdays.
