Arsenal’s forward players have shown a telepathic understanding so far this season. The Gunners’ starting attacking quartet – Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus – have helped Arsenal score 17 goals in seven league games, the third highest total in the division.
What will please Mikel Arteta is that all four players have contributed to the effectiveness of Arsenal’s attack. Saka has five goal contributions in seven games, Martinelli has three, Jesus seven, and Odegaard three, but in one less game.
Every department of Arsenal’s attacking unit is clicking, and that is a huge reason as to why they sit top of the Premier League with 18 points accumulated from a possible 21. It’s often said that if players have good relationships off the field, then they have a better relationship on it, and that appears to be the case with Arsenal’s attackers, particularly between Saka and Jesus.
Gunners supporters got an insight into the duo’s off-pitch relationship on Saka’s Instagram page, where he revealed that he had received a gift from his team-mate. The England international had been gifted a luxury, personalised pen from Jesus.
Saka’s post read: “What a gift! I look forward to my next one when I win again @dejesusoficial,” suggesting that Jesus had to give Saka a present as part of a forfeit for losing a game or a challenge. Alternatively, Jesus may have gifted Saka the pen after the 21-year-old was named England Player of the Year last week. Whatever the reason, Saka seemed pleased with his Arsenal-red pen, which also had his name on it.
The post provided an inside look into the relationships within the Arsenal dressing room, which are no doubt having an impact on their successful start to the season.
