Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been linked with Cody Gakpo, but the PSV and Netherlands international forward wants to link up with Erik ten Hag at Manchester United instead, according to GiveMeSport.
The report published today has claimed that Gakpo, who can play out wide or down the middle, is ‘already convinced of the idea of joining’ Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old, who starred for the Netherlands at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, has been impressed by the coaching methods of his Dutch compatriot Ten Hag, who was appointed the Manchester United boss in the summer of 2022 after achieving huge success with Ajax.
Gakpo’s reportedly willingness to move to Manchester United will come as a blow for Arsenal.
That’s because the Gunners are also claimed to be interested in the PSV star, described as “dangerous” by former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie on BT Sport (27 October, 5pm).
Arsenal are looking for a new striker in the January transfer window due to injury to Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazil international striker suffered an injury while playing at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal have serious interest in signing Gakpo in the January transfer window.
Now, the Gunners may want the forward, but if he himself is keen on a transfer to Manchester United, then Arsenal could miss out.
