Raheem Sterling’s presence in the much-anticipated quarter-final between England and France, scheduled for Saturday, December 10, remains in doubt.
The Chelsea striker and Southgate, in fact, reportedly told friends and acquaintances that he did not want to return to Qatar before making sure his family was not in danger.
“I can’t go anywhere until I’m 100% sure my family is safe,” Sterling said.
The Englishman rushed home on Sunday ahead of the round of 16 match against Senegal, which was comfortably won by his team-mates.
This is because his family was robbed and the lives of his partner and their three children could be in danger, fortunately they were not at home at the time of the robbery.
