Arteta and Arsenal have received some stinging comments from left back Tavares as he speaks out on his loan move to Marseille this summer, amid questions over his future with the Gunners.
The Portuguese under-21 international endured a tough start to life in the Premier League last season and was shipped out on loan to Marseille this summer, with Arteta claiming it was his best “solution” following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko.
But Tavares, who was speaking to RMC Sport, has potentially decided his own fate with his latest comments aimed at Arsenal and Arteta. He said: “I came to Marseille to play in my position, in the Champions League, in the league and in the cup [competition]. Marseille gave me this opportunity.”
