Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey could return to training today (Wednesday) ahead of the clash with Tottenham.
Journalist Charles Watts said on YouTube that Partey is expected to be fit for the north London derby and will train again soon.
Partey pulled out of Ghana’s game with Brazil but Watts says that decision was just precautionary and should not impact his availability for Saturday.
The midfielder has had his injury problems throughout his time with Arsenal and that is one reason they tried to get Douglas Luiz on deadline day.
Arsenal set to have Partey back training before Tottenham
He said: “The good news for Arsenal is that the expectation is that Thomas Partey will be available to play against Spurs.
“There is an expectation he will be fit. He came back early from Ghana and at the time, everyone was saying, all the noises you were getting from his people were that it was purely precautionary.
“He felt something and didn’t want to risk it. I noticed he wasn’t in the pictures for training yesterday but as far as I’m aware, the expectation is that he will join in training either today or later this week.
The last derby clash between the two sides was huge, with Spurs winning out and ultimately going on to get that final Champions League spot.
Arsenal go into this game top of the table, one point and two places ahead of their bitter rivals, who remain unbeaten in the league this term.
That means a Spurs victory would obviously take them top and Partey’s return could be crucial in such a big game, provided he is fully fit.
