Gabriel Martinelli is ready to commit his future to Arsenal and sign a contract extension until 2027 despite interest from abroad, according to reports.

The youngster has been a revelation for Mikel Arteta’s side this season and has become a regular name on the starting line-up for the Premier League leaders.

There had been suggestions that he may be persuaded to leave the Emirates, amid interest from Spain, but the Brazilian is now reportedly ready to extend his Arsenal deal.

According to SPORT, Martinelli feels comfortable in Arteta’s project and would like to sign a contract extension until 2027.

His current deal comes to an end in 2024 which led to interest from a number of teams across Europe – such as Barcelona.

Xavi’s side had explored the potential signing of Martinelli and followed his progress throughout the World Cup with Brazil however now look unlikely to pull off a deal.

The Catalan side also has a good relationship with the footballer’s entourage and were informed of his intentions before taking any step to sign him.

The same outlet suggest that Gabriel Jesus injury – that may rule him out for three months – may have been a turning factor in Martinelli’s decision to stay.

He’s already registered five goals and two assists in the Premier League campaign thus far and could build on that if given a central role on the pitch.

In total, he’s scored 23 goals in 104 appearances for the Gunners since joining from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019.
