Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again earlier this week as a video surfaced of him criticising Mikel Arteta, his former boss from his time at Arsenal.

The Gabonese forward endured a prosperous spell in north London with The Gunners, however the relationship turned sour, with Arteta finally losing his cool with his conduct, stripping him of the captaincy and leaving him out of the squad for disciplinary breaches.

It culminated with him being shipped off to Barcelona, although he failed to make an impression there, with the Catalan giants already cutting ties with him, sending him to Chelsea where he will be preparing to take on his former club again.

What Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said about Mikel Arteta

In the video clip that has surfaced on social media and gone viral, Aubameyang was recorded saying: “He can’t manage big characters and big players, he can’t deal with it. He needs some young players that don’t say anything, they just listen.”

The mockery continued when the situation was linked to the Mesut Ozil one, with a player being left out in the cold after signing an extension for ‘big money’ with the club.

At the time it was released, it was unclear as to when the video was taken, whether it was an old clip or a recent one, however, Aubameyang has come out and commented on the video, giving us some answers.

Chelsea’s new forward addressed the video that was going round of him, with the clip reaching a wide audience of people, with Arsenal fans clearly fuming.

Aubameyang tweeted: “Aware there is a video out that was recorded just after I arrived at Barca. At this time I still had a lot of bad feelings in me – Arsenal are doing great things this season and I wish all my old guys well, just not on November 6! Now full focus on tomorrow.”

The forward was clearly dealing with an emotionally charged exit at a club that saw him go from hero to zero, regardless of who was to blame, it was taken at a time when his emotions will have been running high.

Also, it was a private conversation not meant to be released into the public, however he has put it behind him now as he looks to get his career back on track.
