Arsenal send scouts to watch £44m midfielder on 2 occasions

Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Croatian midfielder Lovro Majer on multiple occasions, most recently on Thursday, according to a report.

The Mirror report that Arsenal sent scouts to watch Lovro Majer for the second time on Thursday, as Croatia took on Denmark in the Nations League.

The scouts would have been a bit disappointed to see Majer named on the bench for the match, but he did come on to score the winner for his country late in the game.

Majer then played 72 minutes and provided an assist against Austria on Sunday.

The 24-year-old currently plays his club football for Stade Rennais, who will reportedly demand at least £44m from clubs looking to sign him.

A midfielder who excels creatively, Majer scored 11 goals and assisted 13 for Rennes last season. He has a goal and two assists in the early stages of the new club campaign, having played 431 minutes across eight appearances (six starts).
In terms of his profile, it would perhaps be a little strange to see Arsenal pursuing a big-money move for Majer.

He’s a left-footed attacking midfielder who generally seems to take up a position on the right. That puts him in the same area of the pitch as Martin Odegaard and Fabio Vieira, and Bukayo Saka and Marquinhos.

That’s surely not an area of the pitch for Arsenal to prioritise in the coming transfer windows. But the Gunners are apparently keeping an eye on the player all the same.
