Arsenal FC are the only football club to have ever been invited to afternoon tea with Queen Elizabeth II.
In the summer of 2006 when Arsenal FC moved from Highbury to the Emirates Stadium, Queen Elizabeth II was scheduled to cut the ribbon to officially open the club’s new home.
However, due to a back injury, Prince Philip took her place, writes sportbible.com.
The Queen regretted her absence from the event and as a result the Arsenal team were invited to Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea in February 2007.
Filming in a BBC documentary focused on the meeting between the Queen and the Arsenal team.
