Arsenal’s center back Nuno Tavares has resumed training after being sidelined by a knock in recent weeks.

The young Portugal international has played in three Premier League games while on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Though Tavares is expected to play again after the international break, he has missed the last three matchday squads in a row./winorlose

The 23-year-old is back in training and recently posted a photo of himself on the training field to his Instagram Stories, however it’s unclear if he’s ready to play again.

The left-back, who is eager to establish himself after losing favor at Arsenal, will take heart from it.

The former Benfica defender went on loan to Marseille in Ligue 1 last season, but after a falling out, he and manager Igor Tudor couldn’t get along.

Consequently, despite his return of six goals in 39 games in France, a permanent move was deferred.

The enraged reaction that Tavares had after being substituted 34 minutes into the FA Cup match against Forest in January 2022 also seemed to enrage Gunners manager Mikel Arteta.

Going forward, he will be eager to maintain the good graces of City Ground club manager Steve Cooper in order to increase his prospects of securing a permanent transfer.

Although the Portuguese player’s long-term contract with Arsenal expires in three more years, it is likely that he has already played his final game for the North London team. He inked the deal in the summer of 2021.

Right now, the Gunners have adequate depth at the defense, and a few of their young players are expected to make their way into the starting lineup shortly./WINORLOSE/
